Galva Elementary Families - Here is a glance at our week ahead for 9-7-26 to 9-13-26!

We have a special morning of Wildcat athletics at the Galva Park District! ⚾ JH Baseball 🆚 Abingdon-Avon ⏰ 10:00 AM 🥎 JH Softball 🆚 Stark County ⏰ 10:00 AM MOST IMPORTANTLY—IT’S 8TH GRADE NIGHT! Today we celebrate our Galva JH Softball 8th graders! Come out, pack the park with maize and blue, and help us recognize these Wildcats for their hard work, dedication, and the memories they’ve made representing Galva! 📍 Galva Park District 213 SE 6th St., Galva, IL 61434 Let’s give our 8th graders a great crowd and a night to remember! 💙💛 It’s a great day to be a Wildcat!

The Wildcats battled under the Friday night lights tonight at West Central. While the final score didn’t fall our way, we’re proud of the effort, fight, and determination this team continues to show each week. Huge thank you to all of the fans who made the trip and nettles the heat to cheer on their Wildcats! It’s ALWAYS a great day to be a Wildcat! 💙💛🐾

A long TD run by Harlem Young and a conversion run by Sarver makes it 40-22. A kickoff return TD makes it 48-22 WC.

Another touchdown makes the score 40 to 14 W. Central.

Another West Central touchdown run makes it 32 to 14 midway through the third quarter.

And the half ends with the score still 24 to 14 W. Central.

And on the next play West Central busts off an 80 yard touchdown run. Conversion is successful making the score 24 to 14 W. Central.

The Wildcats score on the MJ Louck touchdown pass with two minutes and five seconds left in the second quarter to make the score 16 to 14 W. Central.

The Wildcats trail West Central 16-6 in the second quarter.

The Mobile Dental Clinic will be here on October 6. This is for any Galva student. Don't pass up the opportunity for your child to see the dentist. All you need to do is contact Nurse Krystal for the paperwork. For any 6th and 9th grade students that still need the required dental exam, this is a great way to get that completed.

Just a reminder that each month at Galva Jr./Sr. High School, we will have a different theme for dress on Friday's. For September, the theme is Football, to celebrate the start of the College and Pro Football Seasons. That makes tomorrow, Friday, September 4th, our first Football Friday of the Year! We encourage all students and staff to sport their favorite football shirt, jersey, hoodie (Probably not tomorrow), etc. Let's ring in the start of another Football Fall by sporting your gear!

From the Korey Stringer Institute: As more states, schools, and worksites adopt and implement WBGT to monitor environmental heat stress, we’re seeing more questions about what the numbers actually mean.    And honestly? We get it. If you’re used to looking at the thermometer or the Heat Index, a WBGT reading can be confusing at first.    A 90°F day does not necessarily mean the same thing for an athlete practicing on a sunny field, a worker in direct sun, or someone sitting in the shade with a breeze.    That’s because ambient temperature, Heat Index, and WBGT measure different things.    The goal of using WBGT isn’t to make athletes “soft.” It isn’t to eliminate practice or outdoor work. And it isn’t to avoid heat altogether.    It’s about understanding the environment and making better decisions about how people work and perform in it.    Check out the graphic to see why WBGT is the best method for monitoring environmental heat stress during activity.    Same air temperature. Different conditions. Different heat stress.
