It took around 5,000 practice throws; 500 sprints; 300 squats; 100 med ball throws; and 50 fights. But he made it! Congrats to Ben Burris on making it to state in the shot put with a throw of 13.91m. Good luck at state next week!

We're live from George Pratt Memorial Field in Mercer County for the IHSA SECTIONAL MEET. The Wildcats came to compete! First up is Reid Harris taking home 5th in the Long Jump and top 10 in the High Jump. Congrats Kid.

Both of our throwers cam in seeded out of the finals but they did not let it stop them! Both Ben and Bubb made the finals in Discus. Both had big PR's of 36.67m and 36.99m respectively.

Galva Athletics- Wednesday May 20: The boys baseball team will host West Prairie at the Galva Park District at 4:30 PM and the Boys Track Team will travel to Mercer County and compete at their IHSA Track Sectional which starts at 3:00 PM. Go Cats!

Due to the weather, the baseball game with VIT/Astoria today has been postponed to Thursday May 21 at Astoria. Game time is still 4:30 PM.

With the win tonight, we will continue in the Regionals. Softball will travel to West Central for the semifinals on Tuesday with a 4:30 PM start time.

Galva Varsity Wildcats Defeat West Prairie Behind Strong Performance From Weber

Jovie Weber was dominant in the circle, as the starter rang up 15 strikeouts in Galva Varsity Wildcats's 4-2 victory over West Prairie on Monday. Jovie Weber gave up six hits and one run over seven and two-thirds innings while walking one.
Galva Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the second inning after a steal of home scored one run.
Tippey doubled to center field on an 0-2 count, which helped West Prairie tie the game at one in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the eighth, Galva Varsity Wildcats broke up the tie when Jovie Weber doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Arabella Porsche followed to extend the lead to 4-1.
Soule started in the circle for West Prairie. The pitcher gave up eight hits and four runs (two earned) over eight innings, striking out three and walking none.
Jovie Weber led Galva Varsity Wildcats with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Jovie Weber stole two bases. Galva Varsity Wildcats stole four bases in the game.
Rigg and Tippey were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for West Prairie. Tippey led West Prairie with one run batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. West Prairie turned one double play in the game.
Galva Varsity Wildcats welcome Monmouth United on Thursday for their next game.

Bussell With 4 Hits As Galva Varsity Wildcats Beat Bureau Valley

Alison Bussell collected four hits in four at bats, as Galva Varsity Wildcats defeated Bureau Valley 5-0 on Friday. Alison Bussell doubled in the fourth inning, doubled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Amber Plummer threw seven innings innings on the way to a shutout. The starting pitcher struck out 12.
Galva Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the first inning after Arabella Porsche singled, scoring one run.
A single by Arabella Porsche extended the Galva Varsity Wildcats lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Longmire stepped in the circle first for Bureau Valley. The starter surrendered 10 hits and five runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Galva Varsity Wildcats collected 10 hits in the game. Galva Varsity Wildcats didn't commit a single error in the field. Kaylyn Gale had the most chances in the field with 13.
Wright and Besler each collected two hits for Bureau Valley.
Galva Varsity Wildcats welcome West Prairie on Monday for their next game.
