GAME ON TONIGHT! 6 PM! BE THERE!

This week the fall and spring Driver’s Ed classes went and observed the Henry County Farm Bureau “Share the Road” presentation. They were able to observe blind spots in multiple vehicles and pieces of farm equipment. They learned what safe following distances are when following SMV vehicles. They were able to partake in a seat belt convincer activity, held by the Illinois State police.
They also were able to try out a sprayer simulator that was brought to the presentation by FS. This was a great representation of how difficult it can be for those big pieces of machinery to move over in various situation and around different obstacles.
It was an excellent presentation and representation of what these new drivers should be looking for and how to handle different situations as we enter this years harvest season.
Be careful out there and share the road!

It takes 3 books to create one StoryWalk… and since 2022, the Galva FFA StoryWalk has shared 20+ books, 350+ reading activities, and put in over 650 volunteer hours!
This project wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing sponsors and grants:
2022: Illinois Library Grant – The start-up funding that launched the Galva FFA StoryWalk, covering the purchase of permanent metal frames and installation materials. This foundational grant made the entire project possible.
2023: National FFA Living to Serve Grant – Expanded the project with multiple storyboards, storage bags to prep books months ahead, and activities for Ag Awareness Day.
2023 & 2024: Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom Book Grant – Added new books to keep the StoryWalk fresh and engaging.
2025: Big Bluestem Wind – Supported new storyboards, additional books, replacement parts, and ongoing upkeep to sustain the project into the future.
📖 Books have been sourced through Thrift Books & Amazon.
What’s Next? Get ready for some spooky fun… Creepy Carrots is coming this October for our Halloween StoryWalk!
The Galva FFA chapter will be sharing this and more as they compete in the National Premier Chapter in Strengthening Agriculture Competition – at the National FFA Convention in late October.
