Galva CUSD #224 held its annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 10, 2023. The ceremony opened with Galva's Hagberg-Hamlin American Legion post #45 posting the colors. Galva High School's Band performed the National Anthem and the choir led the community in song and the Pledge of Allegiance. Major Aaron Gray's remarks were shared with the crowd. Pekin's JROTC led the MIA-POW Missing Man Table Ceremony, bringing some in the crowd to tears. State Representative Travis Weaver spoke a few words to the community as well. The assembly ended with the singing of the Armed Forces Medley by our choir, where all veterans were asked to stand when they heard their branch's song.
