Small School Success - Big Opportunities

Our school district is small and rural, with 600 students in Grades Pre-K through 12.  There are two sections in each of the grades Pre-K through Eight  Graduating classes typically have 40-50 students.  Students usually know all of their classmates, and every staff member in our buildings.  Our teachers and administrators know every family.  Those bonds of familiarity are the backbone of a quality school.

Some might think that a small school limits learning opportunities, especially during high school.  Galva High School expands far beyond its brick walls.   A wide range of vocational offerings are available through partnerships with neighboring districts and the community college.   Our students can earn dual high school/college classes within our high school, and in the classrooms at Black Hawk College, just a few miles away.   And, with a recently added state-of-the-art virtual classroom, students can take classes in real time, sharing instruction and learning with students and teachers in other high schools and colleges.

A tight-knit school paired with a large variety of opportunities creates successful graduates.  Our graduates often walk our stage with many college credits already earned.  Those credits allow them to move directly into a vocation, enter the military at a higher rank, graduate from a community college in a short period of time, or enroll in a major university with a head start.  Our community supports its graduates with many locally awarded scholarships.

If your family is looking for a new community and school district to call home, please strongly consider Galva.  If you are already part of our school community, please work with us to continue to provide a high quality education to our students.    Thank you!
