News from Wildcat Country

November 2018

Parents, students, and friends of Galva Junior/Senior High School:

We are off to a quick start again here at the Junior Senior High and it is hard to believe the 1st quarter is over. The new school report card will be released on Wednesday, October 31st, 2018. Once the report card is released, we will have it available on our website.  The state website is: http://www.illinoisreportcard.com/

Mid-County Football in the Playoffs:  The Mid-County Cougars finished the regular season with a 6-3 record and advanced to the first round of the playoffs at North Boone High School on Saturday, October 27th at 1 PM.  Galva hosted the first-ever Mid-County Pep Assembly that included ROWVA and Williamsfield students and staff as well as Cougar fans.  Both bands played together to make it a very special event.  Our goal as a co-op is to make this an annual event and rotate the host school.  Our Mid-County Cougar Cross Country team also qualified once again for the Sectional meet and left Galva today with a huge send-off.  GO COUGARS!

Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony and Assembly – Friday, November 9th, 10:00 AM
The Elementary and Junior/Senior High will hold its Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony on Friday, November 9th, at 10:00 AM in the High School gym.  We will have a guest speaker from the Rock Island Arsenal.  The Pekin Community High School JROTC Honor Guard will perform their unique POW/MIA missing man ceremony during the assembly.  Our choirs will perform a few patriotic songs and our elementary choir will sing the National Anthem.
I want personally invite all area veterans and Galva families to the event.   The ceremony should last approximately 45 minutes.  I encourage all veterans to wear your respective service attire to show your support of our Armed Forces.  There will be refreshments for all veterans after the ceremony.
